Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Yakubu Dogara, have expressed shock at the Tuesday gruesome killing of former Chief of Defence Staff(CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh by gunmen.
Saraki and Dogara who took to their twitter handles(@bukolasaraki and @yakubudogara) to separately react to the murder of Badeh, described it as "great loss," "tragic time" as well as "saddening and alarming."
The former Chief of Defence Staff was said to have been shot dead along with his driver on the Abuja-Keffi highway, while returning home from his farm.
Badeh was also said to be without a military escort expected of his status when his vehicle came under gun attack. He was 61.
The two leaders of the nation's National Assembly offered heartfelt prayers on behalf of the family of the slain Badeh, with Dogara specifically expressing the hope that the perpetrators of the dastardly killing would be "swiftly apprehended and brought to justice."
According to Saraki, Nigeria has suffered a great loss with the murder of the Air Chief Marshal.
"Nigeria has suffered another great loss with the passing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.
"My heartfelt prayers go to his family and our Armed Forces at this tragic time. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest. Amin," Saraki tweeted.
Also, Dogara who was saddened by the murder, stated that his "thoughts and prayers" were with the victim's family and loved ones.
"News of the gruesome murder of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, is both saddening and alarming.
"My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, and I hope that those responsible are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice," Dogara stated.
