Kareemat Aderinsola Abiola, daughter of late politician and philanthropist, Chief MKO Abiola, has pledged to use quality legislations to address the poor and deficit social infrastructures in communities and Local governments(LGs) in her constituency in Ogun state and other states of the federation.
'Rinsola, who is the House of Representatives candidate of the Action Democratic Party(ADP) for Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency, said Local Governments have been rendered impotent to perform their constitutional roles to the people and communities.
The gender and youths inclusion in politics advocate, added that the LGs lacked the autonomy and control of funds, required to do the "needful."
The ADC candidate who made this known in a social media interactions with her followers, said she would "sponsor or support legislation aimed at granting financial autonomy to local governments" to make them effective and efficient.
She also pledged to seek federal intervention - through motions - in areas which fall under the purview of the Federal Government in order to make her constituency enjoy quality representation if elected to represent them at the National Assembly.
"Primary education, roads within communities, etc, fall under their purview and for as long as they have no control over their funds.
"Changing this would be difficult. This is why I will sponsor/support legislation aimed at granting financial autonomy to local governments.
"I will also seek federal intervention - through motions - in areas which fall under the purview of the Federal Government.
"I have interacted extensively with women and young people in all three LGAs and a common concern centers around unemployment and high interest loans.
"My office will partner with the relevant agencies to provide impactful skill acquisition trainings for youths and women."
