The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Customs Services(NCS) has said it is investigating circumstances that led to the killing of a 35-year-old man, Samson Olabisi, by stray bullets.
Olabisi, father of five children, was struck down by stray bullets while riding on a motorcycle and going towards Tube in Ipokia Local Government Area on Friday. The incident happened at Ipokia round-about, Ipokia.
The Witness said the stray bullets emanated from the sporadic gunshots fired by the NCS Operatives that stormed the Ipokia junction area in search of rice smugglers.
It was gathered that the victim was quickly rushed to the General Hospital in Idi-Iroko by the operatives but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Public Relations Officer of the State command of NCS, Abdullah Maiwada, who confirmed the incident to reporters on phone, admitted that the incident occurred on Friday morning in Ipokia, stressing it is also being investigated.
"Yes, an incident occurred this morning in Ikpokia.
" Investigation is ongoing to gather facts on what actually transpired.
"I will brief you as soon as the information becomes available to me," Maiwada
