A 27 years old man Ibrahim Sikiru has been arrested for killing his biological father.
Ibrahim was arrested by detectives attached to Onipanu divisional police headquarters after one Abiodun Sunday, neighbour of the slain man reported that the deceased, Mumuni Ibrahim, a night security man returned home in the morning and met his son still sleeping, and when he inquired why he was still sleeping at that time of the day, the suspect got enraged, pulled a cutlass and cut his father in five different places.
The police spokesperson in Ogun state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known to newsmen, said the Divisional Police Officer for Onipanu division, Bamidele Job mobilised detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested and victim evacuated to a General Hospital for treatment.
Oyeyemi said further that the suspect, who was strongly suspected of being a cultist had no reasonable explanation for his action when interrogated, explaining that the the victim died on 31st of March while receiving treatment at a general hospital and has been buried according to the dictate of his religion.
The commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
