Villagers Flee As Bandits Kill Traditional Ruler In Kaduna

Malam Magaji Ibrahim identified as the Magajin Garin Idasu in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been shot dead.

Magaji Ibrahim was killed 24 hours after 38 villagers were murdered across Kaduna, including the LGA on Saturday.

A  youth leader in Rahiya village, Ridwan Abdulhadi said scores of residents of Garin Idasu  have fled the area, seeking ‎safer communities in part of Zaria and Giwa town‎.

The traditional ruler was killed when bandits invaded the community on Sunday.

Although, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed, has not spoken in respect of the killing of the traditional ruler as he could be reached yet but the villagers said a significant proportion of them have escaped to Giwa town and Zaria following the alleged attack and murder of .Magaji Ibrahim.

However, the death toll of the weekend’s bandits attacks on some villages in Kaduna State has risen to 40  as two additional bodies have been discovered. 

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed in a statement on Monday.

According to him, security agencies, who carried out search operations in the area, reported the discovery to the Kaduna State Government.

The Daily Crucible  reported how bandits invaded Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu, Giwa Local Government Area on Saturday, killing 38 people in savage attack.

“The latest discovery of two more bodies brings the death toll from the attack to 40.

“Further details will be published as they are confirmed,” he said.
