An investor and business tycoon, Princess Olatorera Majekodunmi-Oniru, has expressed her ambition to delve into politics and run for the Ogun Central Senatorial Seat at the National Assembly come 2023.

The young female entrepreneur who is passionate about human capital development, empowerment and nation building, said she would use quality legislation and representation to impact positively on Egbaland, if given the mandate of her Egba(Ogun Central Senatorial district) people to represent them in 2023 at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.

Ogun Central is quite critical to the history of the Gateway State and to a significant extent, dictates its political dynamics and climate. Aside being the most populous among the state's three senatorial districts, it is also home to many of the living great sons and daughters of the state, including the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo, Okukenu 11, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex - Chairman, National Interim Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan, Nobel laurette, Prof. Wole Soyinka, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson among others. Ogun Central is also where you have Abeokuta, the Capital City and seat of the Ogun State Government.

Since the return of democracy in 1999, Ogun Central has had the likes of Senator Femi Okunrounmu of the Alliance for Democracy(AD), Senator Ibikunle Amosun then a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyabo Obasanjo (PDP) and Senator Gbenga Obadara(All Progressives Congress, APC) as its representatives.

The current senator representing the district is Amosun. It is not yet clear if the immediate past governor is going to the Senate for the third time in 2023 or nurses a presidential ambition, since posters purportdly proclaiming his interest in the number One office in Nigeria, were reportedly sighted in parts of Ogun State recently.

But Princess Majekodunmi-Oniru, who hails from Egba Alake and married into the popular Oniru Royal Family, is humbly
soliciting prayers, blessings and support of Ogun Central people to occupy Senator Amosun's Seat at the Senate.

The CEO of Olatorera Consultancy said she has the passion, grit and  commitment to effectively and efficiently represent them positively different in 2023.

She declared her ambition on Sunday in Abeokuta South Local Government amid crowd of supporters who chanted “APC!... Next Level!” thus, putting to rest all speculations since her political ambition filtered out months ago.

At the event, the supporters also sang “Eje k'omode ko wa o eje k'omode ko wa jojolo, omo kekere jojolo awon lore eledumare eje k'omode kowa” which translates to “Allow the young to come forth!” “The Youth can lead, it is time!”

Also, many of the Ogun State indigenes harped on the importance of women and young leaders rising to the challenge of political leadership with supporters - all fiercely passionate about Majekodunmi-Oniru’s bold rise, passion, potentials and determination to join the Senate which currently has only 3% women and 0% youth.

In her remarks, Olatorera Majekodunmi-Oniru emphasized her full and unwavering readiness to run for Senate and move the district and nation forward.

She iterated that this has been a relenting dream for over 20 years, stressed that people should “Please get Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC)”, “mobilize Massively” and “Prepare to vote.”

She concluded her speech with “We are ready. Nothing is stopping this movement for Greater Ogun and Greater Nigeria.”
