Protest Rocks Osogbo As EFCC Arrests Army Deserter, 33 Others Over Internet Fraud




Youths poured into the roads and streets of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, protesting the alleged routine harassment by the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

 Some people suspected to be internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘yahoo, yahoo boys,’ practically blocked some roads in Osogbo in protest over an alleged midnight raid by operatives of the EFCC.

The protesters also set up bonfires at Lameco Junction, along Osogbo/Ilobu Road, disrupting traffic flow and compelling many motorists passing through the road to take make a detour.

But the Anti - graft agency claimed the protesters were protesting arrest of suspected internet fraudsters.

The Ibadan Zonal Office had in the early hours of Tuesday, arrested a former soldier, Adebisi Jamiu and 33 others for suspected internet fraud.

The suspects were picked up in different locations in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
