Delta LGA Poll Fraud : Mbiri APC Takes Case To The Dead

                 •Okowa

From Mike Oseji, Asaba

A curious twist has crept into the just concluded Local Government elections conducted by governor Ifeanyi Okowa - led Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) controlled government in oil bearing Delta State as members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mbiri took their case to the dead over an alleged denfrachisement during the poll.

The APC members and supporters who stormed the town's cemetry in protest over alleged denfranchisement in respect of the Councillorship election, said election never took place in Mbiri town in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State.

The aggrieved APC people reported the said injustice to the dead, many of whom they alleged, died following poor governance of the PDP controlled - government in the State, urging the spirits of the departed ones to visit their wrath on whoever the PDP is plotting to foist on them as Councillor when no councilorship election was held.

APC leader in Mbiri, Chief Martins Uzorka Elue, who coordinated the peaceful protest, alleged that there was no election on March 6, 2021 to elect a councillor to represent Mbiri at the Ika North East Legislative Assembly, Owa Oyibu.

According to him, some chieftains of the PDP in Ika North East collected the electoral materials provided by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) on.election day and allegedly took it to an undisclosed location for reasons best known to them.

Chief Uzorka said APC Councillorship candidate was Hon. Augustine Mordi but expressed the concern that PDP in the state was hell bent on imposing its candidate, Mr. Victor Iwekauba, on Mbiri as elected Councillor when there was no election in the town.

The APC leader in Mbiri is calling for a rescheduled councillorship election in the town since none took place on March 6, warning PDP not to impose councillor on the people or engage in inciting action regarding the election.

But members of PDP have adjudged the election  peaceful, free and fair.

The Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, Chief Mike Ogbodu while speaking at the commencement of the announcement of the results on Sunday, hailed the exercise, saying the conduct of the elections were peaceful across the state.

But the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State  pulled out of the exercise around 12 noon on Saturday when the election had begun, describing it as a sham.

The Daily Crucible recalls that based on the results announced by the Returning Officers of each of the LGAs,  candidates of the PDP swept the whole seats  in the 25 LGAs .
