Moves by the Delta state government to have three additional state - owned universities heightened on Tuesday with the disclosure that the state House of Assembly had received a letter for the upgrade of existing higher Institutions to full -fledge universities.
The letter was written and forwarded to the state legislators by governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The state government disclosed this on its official twitter page.
"The Delta State House of Assembly has received a letter by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to upgrade three higher Institutions in the State.
"The institutions are College of Education Agbor, to University of Education, Anwai Campus of the Delta State University, to Delta State University of Science and Agriculture, and the Ozoro Polytechnic, to Delta State University of Science and Technology.
"Governor Okowa stated in the letter that the move is in line with the federal government decision to upgrade educational and technical education across the country," it stated.
