Gov Abiodun Presents 2021 Budget Of N339bn To Ogun Lawmakers

Governor Dapo Abiodun has  presented 2021 Appropriation Bill of N339biliion to the Ogun State House of Assembly, declaring that his fiscal policy will be geared towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of spending while also striking  a balance between capital and recurrent expenditure.

Abiodun assured that his government will ensure more fiscal responsibility by ensuring removal of duplication of BVNs from the State payroll.

The Governor noted part of the fiscal revenue strategy for the state apart from the implementation of the State Medium Term Revenue Strategy for 2021-2023,  would include greater control of the wage bill, direct capital expenditure on critical infrastructure and boost revenue receipts by identifying and plugging revenue leakages among others.

He hinged the fiscal projections of the state for 2021 on national and state parameters, saying the State revenue which is estimated at N339billion in 2021 will include Internally Generated Revenues of N119billion, Statutory allocation at N59 billion while capital receipt is expected at N142 billion including Internal and External loans including Grants and Aid.

According to him, Personnel cost remains the largest single item of expenditure, which as at 31st October 2020 accounted for 35.5 percent of total State Government spending and is projected at 21 percent of 2021 total expenditure.

He assured that necessary steps will be taken to sustain the payroll integrity and ensure that the nominal roll of the Public Service and payment of monthly pensions is accurate by ensuring removal of duplication of BVNs from the State payroll.

            "Abiodun who said the outgoing year 2020 has presented the world with an unprecedented global pandemic, COVID-19 which was a development that was neither envisaged nor prepared for, however assured that a total sum of N12billiowill be providefor transfers as Stabilization Fund to insulate and position the State towards unprecedented activities or economic shocks for growth recovery," he said.
