Hope rises on Friday in Ogun State that a steady and handy litres of palm oil and allied products will roll out in hundreds and thousands once again from the near moribund state - owned Lomiro Oil Palm Plantation and Industrial Oil Mill as the ministry of agriculture, Oke - Mosan, and officials from the Development Finance Office of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are set to visit the Oil Palm Estate today.
While its glory lasted, it was a veritable source of income, employment, Revenue base for government and raw materials for industries as well as ancillary practical training ground for agricultural students until the fortune nose - dived in the passage of time.
Little or nothing was heard about the palm estate during the era of the immediate past administration. It is reassuring and makes economic sense that Governor Dapo Abiodun - led state government seeks to revive it this time.
This can only be another bold leap towards assisting the Gateway State to energise its economy and further position it and the people better for quick recovery from the impacts of the COVID - 19 pandemic.
The palm oil estate is another beneficiary of the recent selection of Ogun state as one of the beneficiary states in the CBN Oil Palm Development Programme, sequel to the advocacy and request by the Government of Ogun State.
Expectedly, tens or scores of Oil Palm farmers and young people who are interested in Oil Palm farming stand to benefit from this proposed intervention by CBN.
