Building Falls, People Panic As Bomb Blast Rocks Ado Ekiti

What is suspected to be a bomb went off on Saturday morning in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, near the state government offices, rupturing the peace of the residents and equally bringing down a building in the process, The Daily Crucible learnt

There were also panic and pandemonium as the explosion shattered the morning chores in the neighbourhood with many people rushing out of their homes fear - stricken and dashed into the roads and streets for safety, The Daily Crucible further learnt.

It was gathered that the blast occurred at the Police EOD office in Ado Ekiti. Although, there were no casualties but the impact caused not a small damage to some government offices in the vicinity of the explosion.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Amba Asuquo, who visited the scene of the blast,  said preliminary investigation has shown that the bomb might have gone off from the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) office within the premises.

Also, Commissioner of information and Civic Orientation for the state, Muyiwa Olomilua, confirming the incident, said "An explosion was reported earlier this morning at the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) office in Ado Ekiti. 

"An initial on -the- spot assessment confirms that there are no casualties and the area is secured with no further threats. Members of the public are advised to go about their normal duties."

However,  Governor Kayode Fayemi has arrived the scene and was sighted inspecting the site of the explosion. He was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Amba Asuquo and  Chairman Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Alabi, the Alawe of Ilawe
