Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III and foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote are some of the eminent Nigerians expected to honour Owu kingdom in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with their presence at the installation and presentation of staff of office to the new Olowu of kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Otileta V11 on Saturday.
Also, renowned philanthropist, Sir Kessington Adebutu will be the chief guest of honour while Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade will be the Royal father of the day.
General Ekundayo Opaleye (Rted) who made this known to newsmen during press briefing at the palace of Olowu Abeokuta, the state capital, said the traditional coronation begins tomorrow, Monday.
Fielding questions from journalists, Opaleye gave insight into why the process leading to the selection and nomination of Oba Matemilola as the new Olowu was rancour - free.
He said Oracle's (Ifa) decision was incorporated into due process that was followed to arrive at the choice of Prince Matemilola.
He also highlight of the activities of the coronation of Oba Matemilola to include the opening of the medical counselling and consultation clinic.
He noted that on Tuesday and Wednesday October 25 and 26, 2022 villages, settlements, groups and associations will pay homages to the new Olowu at his palace.
According to him, youth seminar and colloquium will hold at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL on Thursday, October 27 as well as the launch of Olowu Foundation among other events.
There will be commemorative golf game at the Abeokuta Golf Club, Oke Mosan while skills development seminar will hold at the OOPL on Friday, October, 28 2022.
Other activities will also include tour of historical places in Abeokuta, story telling and reminiscences by elderly people, games and sports while a banquet will also hold later in day at the OOPL.
The grand finale of this year’s “Odun Omo Olowu” and the official presentation of staff of office by the Ogun State Government to Oba Matemilola will hold on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
The venue of the two major events is the Oba Odeleye Park, Ori Omi, Owu Totoro, Abeokuta.
Later in the day, the celebration will be capped with an exclusive celebratory dinner for the Olowu, his friends and associates.
