Tragedy has struck the home of one Abubakar, a hunter in Dutse Gogo town in Kaiama on Sunday when his children were testing efficacy of a newly acquired gunshot protective charm.
The Daily Crucible gathered that the incident happened at about 2200 hours on Sunday and was later reported same day at Kaiama police station.
It was learnt that Abubakar Abubakar, the elder brother aimed a gun at his younger brother aged 12 years after they had both fortified themselves the gunshot charm as prescribed by unnamed native doctor who prepared the pottion.
Believing the charm would work as assured by the maker, Abubakar picked his father's dane gun, took aim at his younger sibling and pressed the trigger. The dane roared and released grains of hot lead into Yusuf's body from his upper back.
The lad fell to the ground, writhing in a pool of his blood until he drew the last breath on the spot. The charm failed.
Palpably shocked Abubakar Abubakar, it gathered, fled the scene and escaped into the bush.
Police Spokesperson in Kwara State, Okasanmi Ajayi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), who confirmed the incident in release on Monday, said investigation into the matter had commenced as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Paul Odama.
Ajayi advised parents and guidances to monitor the activities of their children and avoid engaging in risky activities while their children and wards watch to prevent unpleasant incidents.
