Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has slammed PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, describing him as an ingrate who forgot his benefactors.
Wike who spoke on Thursday while inaugurating internal road projects his administration executed in Ikwerre Local Government of the state, said he and others brought Ayu from the gutter to crown him chairman of the country's main opposition party.
He spoke in reaction to comments made earlier against him on Wednesday by the former Senate President ( 1992 - 1993), who vowed that he would quit his office as demanded by Wike and others whom he reckoned as children.
Wike said: “Somebody says we are children when he founded PDP in 1998. You can imagine what power can do, you can imagine an ingrate!
"You said we are children. That same children brought you from the gutter to become the Chairman. Ayu, You were impeached as a Senator (Senate President). Ayu, Obasanjo sacked you (as minister).
"You said you founded the party, but you left to go and join ACN. You are like a man who founded a company and left the company with your shares. Others have come to build that company.
"Ayu, you are sleeping in your house and calling me seconds, per seconds to thank me when I made you chairman, Ayu Haba!
"Seyi Makinde is a boy? Ikpeazu is a boy? You are Ingrate. I kept quiet thinking we can reconcile, even though I gave you money to campaign but you took the money into your pocket.
"You think you can win without us? Don’t worry, at appropriate time, we shall show you.
"Just look at the type of people that says they want to rule Nigeria, let’s see how.
"You can go and hire media and social media people against me, I will show you when the time comes.
"Ayu, you are an ingrate and you are going nowhere!".
Crisis within the PDP started shortly after its Presidential primary on May 28 and the crisis pitted Wike against the party's presidential candidate; Atiku Abubakar one hand, and between Wike and the national chairman on the other.
The feud between Atiku and Wike started shortly after the former picked Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate over the Rivers State governor who enjoyed more backing from party leaders.
The impasse has since stalled the formation of the party’s presidential council ahead of the commencement of presidential campaigns on September 28.
The situation has also caused confusion and division within key party organs and groups, including the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BoT), the Governors’ Forum and state chapters of the party.
