Ogun To Revive LISA Memorial Arcade Through Private Partnership - Culture & Tourism Commissioner

Ogun state government has hinted of plans to engage the services of a private organisation to resuscitate the moribund memorial arcade in Lisa.                

The state commissioner for culture and tourism, Mrs Adijat Oladapo-Adeleye disclosed this at the weekend at the maiden edition of Irewolede Area CDC Community day/ launching of a Civic center and award presentation in Lisa in Ifo local government area of Ogun state.                                                 
Mrs Oladapo-Adeleye said that it was regrettable that such money spinning tourist centre would be neglected by previous administrations in the state, adding that if such ediffice has been witnessing regular maintenance, the memorial arcade would not have been left to keep rotting away.     

The Daily Crucible reports that the memorial arcade was erected in remembrance of victims of plane crash tragedy that occurred in the community.

A Bellview airline  - Boeing 737-200 aircraft crashed in Lisa village, killing all 117 people on board shortly after takeoff for indeterminate reasons from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos
on 22 October 2005.

The incident catapulted Lisa village in Ogun into worldwide recognition and an instant tourists attraction until it waned with years of neglect and abandonment.
                                      
But speaking at a Community Day celebration in Lisa, the Commissioner noted that Prince Dapo Abiodun- led administration in the state feels the pain of the residents in area of infrastructural development, assuring them of urgent intervention from the state government very soon.     
                                              
She also expressed her displeasure at the deplorable state of road leading to the area from Ijoko - Oyero- Oluke - Lisa axis which was constructed in 2005 as a result of the Plane crash in community that claimed lives of notable Nigerians.                                               
Mrs Oladapo-Adeleye also assured the residents of the area that the state government would soon  reconstruct the road  to promote commercial activities and make life more meaningful to the entire Community members.                                            
She urged members of the community development associations in Lisa to complement the efforts of the state government in infrastructural development since government alone cannot provide all the basic amenities to its citizen.                                                    
The Olu of Lisa kingdom, Oba Oladele Odugbemi said that he would continue to make his people happy by providing the basic infrastructure to the community, saying that all the projects so far executed in Lisa are for the benefit of the people.                      
As a promoter of culture and tradition, Oba Odugbemi emphasised his desire to continue to protect the heritage of the founding fathers of culture and tradition.                            
The royal father appealed to the state government not to renege in its promise to resuscitate the moribund memorial arcade and the reconstruction of the road leading to Lisa community.    
                                    
The chairman of Ifo local government, Mrs  Kikelomo Delano commended the monarch for the infrastructural development in Lisa through his personal efforts in turning around the community eulogising him as the pillar of Lisa kingdom.                                   

Mrs  Delano assured the people of the community of the presence of the local government within its limited resources in Lisa Community.                          

 Earlier, the chairman of Irewole Area Community Development Committee, Mr Akinsola Sunday  in his welcome address expressed his dissatisfaction on  the deplorable road leading to Lisa, which according to him has been the major constraint affecting commercial activities in the community.                                    

Mr Sunday, who is also the Tayese of Lisa kingdom appealed to the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to quickly come to the aid of the residents of Lisa by fixing the road to avoid further loss of lives of innocent people as a result of bad road.
