The Governor’s Liaison Officer for Ikenne Local Government, Prince Adebayo Oyekoya, has flayed factional governorship candidate of PDP in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, over his remarks on Governor Dapo Abiodun's recent appointments and projects in Ogun State.
Prince Oyekoya described Adebutu's remarks as a reflection of “a man with very little political goodwill and shallow knowledge of governance.”
Adebutu was quoted in some media as condemning the recent appointments of commissioners and Governor’s Liaison Officers (GLOs) and award of road contracts by the Dapo Abiodun Administration.
The Governor’s Liaison Officer for Ikenne Local Government, in a statement on Tuesday, described Adebutu as one being “haunted by his past failures in previous elections” and therefore “it is not not surprising that he has left necessary issues to embrace irrelevancy.”
“The PDP factional governorship candidate has a shallow understanding of governance, if not, he should have known better; some appointees recently resigned from the state cabinet to pursue their political ambitions and for the smooth running of the state, such offices cannot be left void.”
On the appointment of GLOs, Oyekoya said, it was a further demonstration of the belief of Governor Dapo Abiodun in taking governance closer to the grassroots. The GLOs are the eyes and ears of the governor in their respective local government areas; and they are to complement the council chairmen.
“The people of the state have widely appreciated the unprecendented projects embarked by the incumbent Governor and have continued to encourage and endorsed him for continuity as recently demonstrated by paramount rulers, royal fathers, clergymen and students. The present Administration even embarked on the construction of federal government roads and provision of palliatives despite the pausing of funds,” Oyekoya added.
“We therefore encourage Mr. Adebutu to exert energies on his ambition, the fratricidal war within his party that has produced three governorship “candidates” in Ogun State instead of always looking for cheap publicity,” the statement concluded.
