A former Council Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government Area, LGA, Hon. Obafemi Onakoya, Tuesday said that the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has continued to demonstrate commitment to good governance, fair and equitable developmental strides as well as good character in detonating the land mines of the opposition.
Onakoya who is the Government Liaison Officer for Odogbolu LGA, stated this while reacting to news reports credited to former governorship aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Otunba Rotimi Paseda, that he would support the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The former council chairman reminded Paseda who hails from Omu in Odogbolu LGA that “God used men to install Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor of Ogun State in 2019; with the memory remaining fresh as ever, adding that by the grace of God, the second term bid of PDA is sacrosanct, even as declared by the Youth Association of Omu.
His statement titled, “A vote of many colours” read: “It is always good to do a self-check as we live our political dynasty. Most times, we stand by things which we know is against our political ideology.
“I have great respect for Otunba Rotimi Paseda and will always do! This is mainly because of his antecedents when he was in Unity Party of Nigerian (UPN), where he contested for the Governorship seat of Ogun State. This got to a peak not when he lost, but when under ACN, his candidate won the councilorship seat.
“Has he now thrown those away? Does the ADC not have a presidential candidate? So, seeking patronage from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by declaring to vote for him, is not the Rotimi Paseda that I knew. Sir, what went wrong?
“To my surprise, I read that you also described Prince Dapo Abiodun as an 'accidental Governor’! Would you also say a long time friend of yours is an ‘accidental’ friend? God used men to install Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor of Ogun State. And it remains fresh as ever!
“Not being prepared for the task is something I do not agree with you Sir. The Governor, in so many areas has demonstrated commitment to good governance, fair and equitable developmental strides and good character in detonating the land mines of the opposition. By the grace of God, the second term bid of PDA is sacrosanct, even as declared by the Omu Youth Association.
“Sir, I still want to appeal to you that you should come back home. You've always been a progressive, the grass always look greener on the otherside.”
