Ogun State local political government functionaries who served between 2016 and 2019 during the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun have reaffirmed their loyalty to Amosun, saying they have not switched camp to join governor Dapo Dapo Abiodun or his team.
The local government political functionaries who are past councillors, said that their loyalty to ex - governor Ibikunle Amosun still remained intact and urged the good people of the Gateway State to discountenance anything to the contrary.
The former councillors' position followed reports that they had returned to the mainstream to be with Dapo Abiodun after a recent meeting with them at the Presidential lodge Abeokuta on a particular Monday.
Reports further stated that Abiodun received the past office holders made up of former councillors, secretaries to the local governments and vice chairmen, who served during the administration of Senator Amosun but had switched tent to join his camp even as they declared their readiness to work for his victory at the forthcoming 2023 governorship poll.
In a release signed by a trifecta of Hon. Oyedele Azeez for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Hon A. Oloko for Ogun East Senatorial District and one Akinsile
for Ogun West Senatorial District, the former councillors said "there was no time or place where all the 345 honourable councillors decamped to DA(Dapo Abiodun) camp."
"The former Honourable councillors under the above caption wishes to notify the general public and the good people of Ogun State that we are not part of DA Grassroots Ambassadors and we will never be.
"Also we want the general public to take note that few of our colleagues that are present in the said meeting of Monday 17th of July, 2022 were cajoled on the pretence that the meeting is based on discussion concerning all the dues and entitlements owed by the state government.
"We hereby wishes to notify our teeming supporters and the people of Ogun State that, there was no time or place where all the 345 Honourable councillors decamped to DA camp. Our loyalty still remain 100% with our boss. Senator Ibukunle Amosun.
"A rented crowd can not and will not perform the duties of we that are grass rooted. A house built on sand or piles of lies will never stand.
"With this, we urge our members to be steadfast and focus, the next line of action will be taken in due course as we move towards 2023 general election. We the over 250 members remain one and united," the release reads in full.
