Ogun 2023: 'Tripple A' Not Fit To Be Deputy Governorship Candidate - Senator Adeola

Senator Solomon Adeola has lambasted the defeated governorship candidate of Allied People's Movement (APM) in the 2019 governorship election in Ogun State, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, for spewing inanities driven by his pairing with Hon. Ladi Adebutu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as running mate ahead of the 2023 governorship poll.

Adeola said Akinlade is unfit to be deputy governorship candidate given his antecedents, lamenting that the former federal lawmaker now represents a disgrace in the struggle for Yewa- Awori cause and a better society in the Gateway State and beyond.

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance made this position known on Monday while reacting to reports in some online platforms where Akinlade gave his mission for moving from APC to PDP as being driven by the need to scuttle the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and his (Adeola) election in Ogun West as a senator in 2023.

Akinlade was credited in the report as regarding Adeola's Senatorial ambition in Ogun West as an insult to Yewa-Awori people.

But tackling the Ipokia born politician who has moved across three political parties in the last three years, Adeola claimed that Akinlade's latest movement from APC to PDP to pair with Adebutu was informed by his current dire financial strait.

This is contained in a statement by Chief Kayode Odunaro, the Senator's Media Adviser.

According to Adeola, Akinlade is broke and he is after cheap funds that a desperate PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Adebutu is willing to throw around from the pool of business profit of his family.

The statement reads, "The attention of Senator Solomon Adeola, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance and APC Senatorial candidate for Ogun West has been drawn to an interview granted and published as “2023: Why I Chose to Be on Ballot with Adebutu - Akinlade” in some online platforms by Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade aka “Tripple A”, the PDP deputy governorship candidate during a surprise briefing meeting at Agosasa, Ipokia LGA in Ogun State where he stated his mission to politically prostitute from APC to PDP as being informed by his dream for stopping the re-election of incumbent Governor of APC in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and stopping the election of Senator Adeola in Ogun West as a senator which he regarded as an insult to Yewa-Awori people.

"Senator Adeola would not have join issues with the failed governorship candidate of APM in the 2019 election on his spewing inanities and rantings fueled by financial lifeline thrown at him but for the sake of exposing the disgrace that he represents in the struggle for Yewa- Awori cause and a better society in Ogun State and beyond.

"The chairman of Senate Committee on Finance stated emphatically that Hon. Akinlade is financially broke to the extent of not being able to meet his daily needs and the lifeline of a first tranche of over N100 million, a brand-new land cruiser SUV and a Hilux bus from Hon. Ladi Adebutu, the PDP governorship candidate and his family was the main reason for the meeting at Agosasa stressing that Hon. Akinlade is a disgrace to Yewa- Awori cause having contested  as a governorship candidate in 2019 after his imposition on Yewa-Awori  by Senator Ibikunle Amosun with some showings only to descend into  receipt of gratifications and sale of Yewa-Awori cause to play second fiddle as deputy governorship candidate to a money bag family.

“As every good Ogun State indigenes can correctly reason, Hon. Akinlade is after cheap funds that a desperate PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Adebutu is willing to throw around from the pool of the gambling profit of his family. But Hon. Akinlade is unfit to be a deputy governorship candidate of any party based on his unpleasant antecedents,” Senator Adeola stated.

Senator Adeola alleged that Hon. Akinlade under his boss, Senator Amosun as governor of Ogun State, was arrested and detained at Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta in his position as Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue for alleged financial matters on the resources of Ogun State and was later demoted to the position of Special Adviser on Women Affairs where the finances of Ogun State would be far from his reach.

Senator Adeola also recalled that the viral video of an interview granted by Hon. Akinlade a while back to the effect that Senator Amosun condone corruption by his lieutenants provided the person is a loyalist was in direct reference to Hon. Akinlade himself as he was caught with his hands in the till and forgiven as a loyalist to his political godfather.

“I want to say emphatically that Hon. Akinlade is a disgrace and unfit to ever aspire to any elective position in Nigeria on account of his past. I am presently in London, United Kingdom. I challenge Hon. Akinlade to pick up his international passport and travel to London to prove that he had no investigation in London. If he does I can bet he will not come back to contest any election in Nigeria as the UK security agency, M15, will have him as a guest for a long while to explain his activities in London,” Senator Adeola stated.

The senator said that it is laughable that Hon. Akinlade sees his political and socio-economic achievements as only accountable in terms of “deep pocket” in spite of his consecutive five times electoral victory based on performance for constituents and the nation at state and federal levels stressing that it was his accomplishments in public offices that led to a resounding 294 -0 victory at the primary by Yewa- Awori members of APC to come and contest for Ogun West Senatorial district position in 2023.

The current chairman of Senate Committee on Finance that midwifed three reformist Finance Acts said he had successfully held without blemish the positions of Chairman, Lagos State House Committee of Appropriation and Finance, the chairman of the only constitutional committee of Public Accounts in the House of Representatives and pioneer chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content adding that his delivery to the yearnings of his constituents and performance in offices is what marked him out as a grassroots politician par excellence and not the imagined “deep pocket” in Hon. Akinlade’s befuddled mind.

“I want to call on Hon. Akinlade to explain his change of Muslim name Tajudeen to another Muslim name, Abdulkabir if not to obscure his past that is now haunting his present. The disgrace to Yewa- Awori pious heritage must be stopped from those ready to sale using the name of Yewa-Awori,” Senator Adeola stated.

The Daily Crucible contacted Mr. Azeez Adelani, the media aide to Hon. Akinlade for reaction but he did not answer calls placed to his mobile phone line.

However in his response to a WhatsApp message sent to him, Adelani said said he was indisposed and will react to the issues raised later.

"We will react later sir," Adelani stated.
