I think that it’s safe to say that the picture of Hope and I has become one of the world’s most shared pictures. Every day the picture is shared on every social media there is and has millions of likes all together.
After the rescue of Hope in 2016 I was interviewed by medias all over the world and since then the story and development of Hope has been published in many articles.
Hope’s story reminds me of The Ugly Duckling by H. C. Andersen, probably the most famous Danish author to have ever been.
In the tale, a swan is born to a family of ducks and goes from place to place being despised and judged by all whom he meets. In the end he transforms into a swan and finds his true place in the world.
Hope was also judged by everyone, accused of being a witch and despised by the entire community. And as you know, Hope’s story also had a happy ending.
The only problem about Hope’s story is that, despite thousand of articles, interview’s, numerous documentaries about witch craft accusations in Nigeria, children are still stigmatized, tortured and killed. Laws that are meant to protect the children are not being implemented and the number of children being accused of being witches is rising because it has become a profitable business.
So please continue to share, not only Hope’s story, but all our children’s horrible stories and support Land of Hope to make our voices stronger and more powerful.
At this very moment a child is burned alive. They put car tires around the children and set them on fire. We need to stop it. The dead cannot cry out for justice.
For all the cruelty and hardship of our world, we are not mere prisoners of fate. Our actions matter, and can bend history in the direction of justice.
Remember: You can start your own fundraiser on Facebook and help the children. Just choose Land of Hope as the organization you want to support ❤️
