Popular supermarket, Next Cash and Carry in Jahi District, Abuja, owned by a former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has gone up in flame.

The Boxing Day massive fire was still raging as of 1:pm today even as the cause is yet - to - ascertained.

People suspected to be street urchins and looters were said to have taken to looting of the wares and properties unchallenged but it turned out afterwards that they were really good Nigerians, not looters,  salvaging the situation and taking the properties to a safe place not far from the inferno ravaged supermarket.

However, firefighters were sighted battling to put it out.

Peter Obi who governed Anambra State on the ticket of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and handed over to the incumbent, Willie Obiano, was a running mate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a presidential candidate who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 elections.

This comes a few months after another multi-million naira shopping centre, Ebeano supermarket, Lokogoma, Abuja, was gutted by fire.
