Ogun state corp members have clinched the 2nd position in Dance in the just concluded annual National Sports and Cultural festival of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This program which is a yearly event of the NYSC body seeks to explore potentials and strengthening of youth through arts and Cultural activities for national development .
The activities involved dance and drama, volley ball, football and relay race among others.
This year edition took place on October 13 at the NUC Auditorium, Abuja.
The competition started at the regional level where Ogun state emerged first in the south west competition, and emerged second position at the national level of the competition in dance and drama,1st position in 200m race female, 2nd 100 m race for male category.
Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Ogun state, Mrs Belinda Faniyi, expressed profound gratitude to the Corps members who have made the Nation proud even at the National level.
Mrs Belinda Faniyi commended the corps member who against all odds, brought victory back home to the Gateway state.
While adressing them at the NYSC Ogun state secetariat, Abeokuta, the State Capital, on Monday, she hailed the contingent for making the State proud, saying the honour was well deserved.
"You have made us proud, far away in Abuja, we also feel that to whom honor is due honor is given I know all the pains we went thorugh to qualify at the zonal level, at the zonal level they did qualify very well, from the zonal level they moved to the final in Abuja , while many States were left behind Ogun state Corps members represented at the natinal level.
"I want to commend all of you for your effort and your level of discipline in the bus. I want to thank all of you for the high spirit , endurance, perseverance, despite all the odds, you went to Abuja and did us proud. This is our own little way of apprecaiting you. The whole ceremony was very colourful, your performance was so wonderful.
"This has shown us what we could also do at this end . I am sure you would have been the first if we had also paid attention to your custmes, you danced well and very energetic. You did well and I was proud of you. The Director - General placed medals on your neck, please keep the medals very well, I want to thank you for making Ogun proud and for putting us among the top," she said.
