Pandemonium and apprehension enveloped Umuleri community and sorrounding villages for the better part of Monday morning as purported gunmen suspected to members of a new armed group which identified itself as Biafraland warriors attacked a patrol van of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The Daily Crucible learnt that the attackers who arrived in a Toyota Sienna Salon car took the NSCDC Post in Umuleri took the operatives unaware and opened fire on them.
One person was feared dead while their guns were also said to have been carted away by the purported gunmen who were overhead describing themselves as "Biafran defenders" and "fighters."
They also torched the van with the inscription of NSCDC on its body before zooming off to an unknown location.
A video of the gunmen leaving the scene after the assault, have gone viral online.
