Mob Sets Dangote Truck Ablaze In Ogun Over Student's Death

By Ayobami Ife

Enraged mob on Friday set Dangote truck loaded with bags of cement on fire in Ilaro - Owode  axis of Ogun state for crushing a student to death.

The accident occurred around 1:30pm at Sabo junction corridor of Ilaro  - Owode road, Ilaro, in Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.

The mob incensed by an alleged routine reckless driving of the Dangote truck
drivers on roads in that part of Ogun  state and the attendant risk to the lives of residents and visitors, swiftly attacked the truck and set it on fire when they could not find the driver who had fled the scene.

The Daily Crucible gathered that the truck carrying bags of cement from Dangote cement company in Ibese was going to Owode - Idiroko axis for supply  of the products, but lost control of the wheel due to brake failure.

In the process, it ran into the secondary school student who was returning from school and crushed him, thereby setting off a mob action and chaos for the better part of the noon time today.

The Spokesman of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident and attributed the cause to "brake failure and loss of control."

Akinbiyi said the presumed dead had been deposited at the morgue of the State General Hospital, Ilaro.
