Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru Dies in Air Crash
on his way to Kaduna for an important assignment
A military plane believed to be that of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conveying the Chief of Army Staff and about 11 others including crew members, falls off the sky and crashed to the ground near the Kaduna International Airport.
The sad incident occurred around 6pm on Friday, The Daily Crucible learnt.
The impact caused the plane to explode, and got burnt completely.
It was learnt that all the crew members and passengers numbering 12 died in the crash.
However, information from the NAF confirmed the crash but did not give details.
“An air crash involving a Nigerian Air Force aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” the NAF spokesman said in a release.
Born on August 10, 1966, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru hails from Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He was a member of the Regular Course 35 of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
Before his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff, he was the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu.
He was also a former Theatre Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole.
