Members of the Edo Civil Society Organisations, EDOSCO, has pledged to collaborate with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the fight against economic and financial crimes in the country.
The acting Coordinator General of the group, Comrade Curtis Ogbebor, stated this on Wednesday during a Courtesy Visit to the Benin Zonal Office of the Commission.
"We are here to inform the EFCC of the change in leadership in EDOSCO and to also to strengthen the existing relationship existing between our organisation and the EFCC," he said.
Ogbebor said the group was willing to partner with the anti - graft agency in the area of advocacy and enlightenment on the ills of corruption in order to nip the social malaise in the bud.
He also commended the EFCC for discharging its duties professionall.
"I have observed the EFCC for sometime now and I must commend the EFCC’s diligence in discharging its duties and also upholding human right laws," he said.
In his response, Muhtar Bello, Benin Zonal Head, lauded the organisation for the visit, saying civil society organisations were key stakeholders in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crimes.
According to him, "Civil society organisations are vital to the EFCC in executing its preventive mandate and we have partnered with them over the years and we will continue to do so. CSOs serves as a bridge in reaching the grassroots in our preventive mandate."
