The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governors on Thursday met in Sokoto
Conference Hall, Sokoto State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, and declared that none of them is contemplating leaving the party.
The governors who met under the aegis of the PDP Governors’ Forum, urged Nigerians to ignore rumour mongers and mischief makers trying to sow seeds of disunity among them and in the party..
It was learnt that in attendance at the Sokoto meeting hosted by Forum's chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Mallam Aminu Tambuwal, were Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State) – Vice Chairman, Gov. Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta State), Gov. Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Gov. Godwin Obaseki (Edo State), Sen. Bala Mohammed (Bauchi State), Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Sen. Duoye Diri (Bayelsa State), Sen. (Prof) Engr. Ayade Benedict (Cross Rivers State), Gov. Samuel Ioraer Ortom (Benue State), Gov. Bello Mattawale Maradun (Zamfara State) and Crowther Seth (Deputy Governor-Adamawa) .
Sources told The Daily Crucible that these formed parts of the items in a communique signed by Mallam Aminu Tambuwal after the meeting where they also inaugurated various steering Committees to help reposition the party ahead of 2023.
The meeting which was also attended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, also received an interim Report of the Reconciliation Committee of the Party and commended the NWC for setting it up, also lauded the Committee for doing its job well.
They said that the party was one and without division in its ranks, stressing that the governors were concentrating on delivering democracy benefits to Nigerian people who elected them in various states
While pledging to support the federal government in its fight against banditry, kidnapping and other acts of insecurity, the PDP governors also urged the President Muhammadu Buhari - led Nigerian government to diversify the nation's economy and address the sufferings of to the Nigerian people.
