Minister, Others Congratulate Burna Boy, Wizkid On Winning Grammy Awards

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Monday said that 
the Grammy Award won by Burna Boy and Wizkid is a global endorsement for Nigerian music.

Burna Boy clinched the Best Global Music album at the 63rd Grammy Awards with his album, ‘Twice As Tall' while Wizkid won his first-ever Grammy Award with ‘Brown Skin Girl’  which featured Beyonce from the 2019 album, ‘The Lion King.’

Other winners of the Grammy Awards on Sunday are talented Nigerian songwriter, singer and actress, Tiwatope Savage, Femi Kuti and his son, Made.

Mohammed in his congratulatory message to Burna Boy and Wizkid - the two  entertainment stars, said the award will serve as source of inspiration to others.

The minister's statement which was signed by Mr. Segun Adeyemi Special Assistant to the President (Media) Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting reward for the persistent hardwork of Burna Boy and Wizkid.

According to the minister, the awards are  also attestation to the global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world.

Mohammed also expressed the hope that the  awards would spur them to greater heights and serve as a source of inspiration for others.

Meanwhile, other prominent Nigerians have also taken to the twitter to congratulate Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and other winners.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar tweeted: “Congrats @BurnaBoy! #Grammys

“I am delighted and proud as a Nigerian at Wizkid’s Grammy win. Wizkid is an epitome of the talent that abounds in Nigeria. Congrats @wizkidayo.”

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki said: “Congratulations @Burnaboy and @Wizkidayo! #GRAMMYs #NigeriaToTheWorld”

Former Senator representing Bayelsa East, Mr Ben Murray-Bruce tweeted: “Congrats, Burna, on bringing home the #GRAMMYs.
