Ogun At 45 : Let Us Keep Our Good Legacy

By Samson  Ajasa Adeyemi

It is no more a news that our dear Ogun state has climaxed the 45th years of its creation. The creation of the state in February 3, 1976 by the then head of the state, Gen. Muritala Muhammed is no doubt a plus to Nigeria as a whole. A state blessed with human, capital and natural resources has so far put Nigeria in an enviable pedestal in the last 45 years.

The impact and valor brought to our dear state by our past and present heroes who were first in most field of professions cannot be overemphasized. These good legacies among others are what Ogun state indigenes and residents should always exhibit anywhere they found themselves. Our state keeps being the arrow head and templates in terms of educational activities, health facilities, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), viable economic development, agricultural development, social development, among others.

These are giant strides that made us the gateway state. It is always the gateway state towards many progresses. The administrative potential of an average Ogun state person is more often than not enviable, Ogun state was blessed and continue to be blessed with capable hands who have been steering its affairs in the last 45 years which the present administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun is not left out.
The present administration has shown quality leadership and true service delivery in the last 20 months His Excellency assumed office. Critical evaluation of governor Abiodun’s administration will always make one to be proud of being an Ogun indigene. We cannot forget so easily his interventions in resuscitation of some of our higher institutions ranging from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY to Tai Solarin College of Education, TASCE. His administration has completed inner roads in some higher institutions while bad roads leading to many of our schools have been approved for construction /reconstruction.
The Abiodun administration has taken our positions at occasion where we have time to discuss with His Excellency. I cannot but appreciate the governor for showing true leadership. However, we will not stop making more demands as the over two millions students of Ogun state who entrust us with the leadership of NANS are expecting more from us. Let me appeal and seek the support of our dear students and colleagues to keep supporting the present administration towards achieving its well thought out plans for the state and the student community.
The success of the government is our success while otherwise will also be ours. God Bless Nigeria, God Bless Ogun state, God bless NANS God bless Nigerian Students
