Former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Tunji Egbetokun, has dismissed as "mere speculation," claim by some persons that they have already been shut out or marginalised in the soon - to - commence registration and membership revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in the state.

Egbetokun who is the Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters to governor Dapo Abiodun, said it makes no sense for anybody to marginalise some people or group with the membership registration as it would mean cutting oneself short subsequently.

He said the exercise had not commenced, wondering how people could be talking about marginalisation over a process that is yet to start.

The Governor's aide made this known to newsmen on Thursday at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, shortly after the completion of training exercise for local government agents of the party in preparation for registration exercise.

He assured that nobody would be exempted when membership registration and validation commences exercise across the State.

"Nobody will be disallowed to participate in the exercise that is about to start", stressing "Ogun APC is ready for the exercise".

"We've been expecting the registration for a while now, their was a time it was postponed, I will tell you that even if it had happened then, we were ready and now we are very very ready.

"How can anyone say they have been marginalised when the exercise has not even started; they are just speculating. I am not sure anybody will want to marginalise anyone not to register, it is good for us to have a very large number of membership of our party.

"Why would we marginalise anybody? Because it is this that will translate into the victory we will be having come 2023. You don't know who will be with you, you don't know who will not, why will you start from now to marginalise anybody, that is only a speculation," Egbetokun said.

Earlier, the Chairman, All Progressives Congress Registration Exercise Committee for Ogun State, Hon. Ademorin Kuye, disclosed he was happy with the level of preparedness of the party in the state.

He added that the party is open to every Nigerian who wants to join the train of the progressives.

"We have just finished the training of our local government agents for the party and from what we have seen and from their responses and question, we can feel the eagerness to go work for the party, we can feel their sense of loyalty and commitment to this project," he said.

Kuye who further called on the youth who participated in the ENDSARS protest to shun further calls for violence and join the APC in order to be able to effect the change they craved for constitutionally, added that "those who are yet to get their voters card can also register as members of the party as the electoral body has promised to commence the continuous voters registration exercise".

"The party is open to all; this is one party we want to build into a merger party, having the status of ANC in South Africa. For now, it is still the biggest party in Nigeria and we want it to be bigger than it is presently and that is why we are opening doors for the young men and women who have come of age now to join us.

"I am calling on all the young men who were part of the struggle to have a change in the country to come into the party now and try to effect that change constitutionally," Kuye submitted.
