Trump Departs White House, Leaves Terse Note For Joe Biden

...As Buhari Looks Forward To Working With Joe Biden, kamala Harris

New president Joe Biden says that Donald Trump left him a “very generous” letter in the Oval Office.

Despite breaking with tradition and not attending his successor’s inauguration, Mr Trump did decide to leave Mr Biden a letter in the historic Resolute desk.

But Mr Biden, who got to work in the Oval Office hours after being sworn in, said he would not publicly share the contents of the letter until he had a chance to speak with Mr Trump, according to Independent (UK) in its report.

"The president wrote a very generous letter," said Mr Biden about Mr Trump, who left the White House for Florida early on Wednesday.

However,  President Muhammadu Buhari has warmly welcomed the Wednesday inauguration of Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris as President and Vice President of the United States of America.

President  Buhari  expressed the hope that their presidency would mark a strong point of cooperation and support for Nigeria as well as the African continent.

President Buhari also congratulated the leaders, and entire country on the successful transition, which marks an important historical inflection point for democracy as a system of government and for the global community as a whole.

“We look forward to the Biden presidency with great hope and optimism for strengthening of existing cordial relationships, working together to tackle global terrorism, climate change, poverty and improvement of economic ties and expansion of trade.

“We hope that this will be an era of great positivity between our two nations, as we jointly address issues of mutual interest,” the President added in a statement by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant (Media & Publicity).

Buhari on behalf of Nigerians rejoices with President Joe Biden, sharing the proud feeling that the first woman elected Vice President of the United States has an African and Asian ancestry.
