FCMB Probes Adam Nuru Over Alleged Unethical Affairs With Female Employee, Moyo

•Moyo & Thomas

Apparently pressured by the avalanche of signatories to a petition calling for the sacking of its Managing Director, Adam Nuru, the Board of Directors of
 First City Monument Bank,
had said it was reviewing allegations of unethical conduct against Nuru in connection with a female employee,  Mrs Moyo Thomas.

The alleged unethical affair touched off
a marriage scandal which allegedly claimed the life of the  aggrieved husband of Moyo, identified as Tunde Thomas.

The allegation has it that Moyo Thomas, a staff member of FCMB, had a romantic affair with FCMB Managing Director, Adam Nuru.

Thomas reportedly died of depression on December 16, 2020 and was buried on December 30.
He reportedly died when it dawned on him that Nuru allegedly fathered their two children, following the unethical affair.

From the petition, it was claimed that the deceased husband suffered a cardiac arrest before he drew his last breathe.

A petition said to be initiated by his  grieving friends alleged that Tunde died of depression after the shocking discovery  that his supposed two children from the marriage with Moyo, actually belonged to the FCMB MD.

His friends called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to  relieve Nuru of his job,  even as they called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

"This is a case of gross misconduct based on ethical grounds and an unjustifiable economic oppression by the elite (Adam Nuru) against the underprivileged in the society,” the petition, which has already garnered over 1,400 signatures, reads.

“The MD has been doing everything possible to sweep this case under the carpet. We implore the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the apex regulator, and the board of FCMB to investigate this for the integrity of the bank and Nigerian banking industry.”
Reacting, the FCMB Corporate Affairs, said the bank was aware of the allegations making the rounds against its MD but  said the bank's board of directors was already reviewing the matter, adding that its findings would be disclosed in due course.

"We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director, Adam Nuru, a former employee, Ms Moyo Thomas, and her deceased ex-husband, Mr Tunde Thomas.

"While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct require the bank's board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of these code of conduct ethics. This will be done immediately.

"We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved," the statement reads.
