Sunday Igboho has said he would not point an accusing finger yet to any direction or quarters in respect the fire that gutted his old house in Ibadan early to
Tuesday.
Igboho’s Old House was allegedly set on Fire by in what said was a revenge attack in retaliation for the alleged destruction perpetrated at the weekend in Fulani communities in Igangan - Ibarapa area of Ibadan, Oyo state.
The Daily Crucible gathered that the house was torched shortly after a blackout enveloped the Soka area. Sizable parts of the building were razed before Operatives of the state Fire Service arrived to douse the raging inferno.
But Igboho who was reacting to the fire incident which began around 3am, said he was not going to blame anyone, including members of the Fulani ethnic group, until an investigation into the incident has been concluded.
According to him, he was not in a hurry to blame any individual or group for the suspected arson.
He said he would allow authorities to conduct investigation into the incident.
Igboho, whose real name is Sunday Adeyemo, said he was grateful to God that no life was lost, adding that he moved out of the building a year ago.
However, the Oyo State Police Command has blamed the arson attack on Igboho 's Old residence on hoodlums.
Oyo Police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, revealed that preliminary investigation points to the direction of the arsonists who first shot into the air several times before putting fire to the house located at the Soka area of Ibadan.
Fadeyi revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the police had begun an investigation into the incident.
The house was said to have been burnt around 3 am on Tuesday after the power supply to the area was cut off.
The police statement reads: “At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, a report was received at the Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at Soka area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra ( taxi) firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.
“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while the value of other properties is yet to be estimated.
“Immediately the DPO Sanyo got a wind of the incident, he contacted fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessment.
“The fire was eventually put out. An investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police are on the trail of the hoodlums.”
