8th Day Prayer : Abiodun, Tunji Ishola, Kaka Extol Virtues Of Late Minister, Martins - Kuye

Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun,  newly appointed Nigeria Ambassador to United Kingdom (UK) Tunji Ishola and Senator Gbenga Kaka joined other dignitaries and the muslim community in Ijebuland in Ago - Iwoye, on Sunday to observe an eight -  day fidaus prayer in honour of late Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins  - Kuye.

 Senator Martins - Kuye, who was the Aare Musulumi of Ogun State, Asiwaju of Ago Iwoye and former  Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria died in Lagos on January  17, 2021 ago at the age of 80.

At the Fidau prayer,  governor Abiodun extolled his virtues, describing him as a  political leader and an icon who was selfless, humble and highly detribalised Nigerian. 

The Governor was represented at the event which took place at the Wesley Primary School,  Ago - Iwoye, by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele.


Abiodun said  the late Kuye was an astute personality who had a remarkable sense of humour and an uncommon ability to douse tension whenever the need arose.

He also described the former minister of State for Finance as  a devote Muslim who was very active in propagating and supporting islam across Ogun state. 

"During his life time, he sacrificed everything he had towards the growth and development of his people and the state. He will be sorely miss by everybody and the state government," the governor said.

While consoling the wives and children to take solace in Almighty Allah,  he equally prayed that the merciful Allah would  overlook his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him aljana firdaus.  

Also speaking, Ambassador Tunji Ishola, described late Kuye as a man of many part, devout Muslim and a God fearing man.

Ishola who was Personal Assistant to Kuye when the administration  of President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him minister, added that he was cerebral, a principled politician, charismatic leader, brilliant scholar,  merchant , traditionalist and a bridge builder.

In his lecture, the National Missioner Ansarudeen,  Sheik Muyideen Ajayi Bello, urged everyone to live a good and exemplary life, saying no matter how rich and highly placed anyone is, death will come one day but the legacies of  the person speaks after death. 

While saying death is inevitable, he also advised that people should have the fear of God in all they do, be selfless and committed to God.

In his remarks, His Royal Highness , Ebumawe of Ago-iwoye, Oba Abdulrazak Adenuga said the late Senator was a father of all while praying  God to grant him eternal life. 

 He noted that he didn't regret making him the Asiwaju of Ago iwoye.

Other dignitaries at the event included; Chief of Staff to the state governor,  Alhaji Salisu Afolabi Shuaib, Ogun Deputy Speaker, Hon Dare Kadiri, Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Afolabi Afuwape,  State Assembly members, Chief Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka, league of Imams and Alfas among others.
