Tension In Asaba As Operation Delta Hawk Operative Kills Woman, Injures Another

An operative of the newly inaugurated Operation Delta Hawk (OPDH) has allegedly killed a woman, believed be a trader, in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The lifeless body of the woman left on the road around the New General hospital, Asaba, where she slumped and died after a projectile allegedly fired by the OPDH struck her.

Angry passersby also miled around her remains, condemning the recklessness and excesses of the OPDH Operatives which resulted in the gruesome killing of the innocent woman on Tuesday night in Asaba.

OPDH is a joint security outfit comprising personnel of the Nigerian military, police and other sister agencies.

The outfit was set up by the Delta Government and officially inaugurated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on December 10 in Asaba to contain  the growing wave of crime, banditry,  kidnapping  and herdsmen attacks across the state.

The Daily Crucible gathered that some operatives of the task force were chasing an unmarked vehicle when a stray bullet hit the woman along the road while one of the boys in the unmarked  car also sustained gunshot wounds on his back.

"A patrol team saw a vehicle without plate number and fanned them down to stop. It was like the occupants of the vehicle  were  infuriated by the  manner the patrol team was questioning them and they zoomed off.

"We heard gun shots afterwards and one of the occupant of the vehicle was injured and then one of the bullets strayed to a market woman and killed her on the spot," a source stated.
