Ogun state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered nine illegal routes in Akere village in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state being used by people to illegally enter or
leave Nigeria through Republic of Benin.
The illegal routes were created by criminally minded elements during the EndSARS protests that shook the nation in October but was discovered recently by the marine unit of the NSCDC.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Hammed Abodurin disclosed this on Tuesday
during the inauguration of an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Forensic Laboratory Centre at Owu Dekudu Village in Kobape area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Officers and men of the Corps will be trained at the facility in cyber security, digital intelligence and surveillance among others to detect crime scenes across the state and assist sister agencies with ICT technology they may need to unravel crimes and free victims.
According to him, the ICT Forensic Laboratory formed part of the efforts towards enhancing the preparedness of NSCDC to meet her core mandate of maintaining peace and order.
The Commandant said 80 per cent of cyber crimes is committed on phones, hence the need to also deploy both ICT knowledge and tools to tackle the menace.

In his address, the state governor, Dapo Abiodun charged the leadership of NSCDC to extend the gesture to other sister security agencies within the arm forces in order to make the larger Nigerian society safer for all.
Abiodun who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, said no society could develop today without enhancing the ICT of such a state.
"It is already acknowledge all over the world that no state can progress without enhancing . The Civil Defence has taken a very giant and bold step to ensure that not only are we going to be physical available but we are also going to avail ourselves with data and the only way to do that is to raise the capacity of the people who will interact with this date".
