From Godwin Akomah, Lagos
The Panel was set up by the Lagos State Government to probe the Lekki shootings as well as complaints of human rights violations, extrajudicial killings and extortion preferred against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
The Managing Director of LCC, Abayomi Omomuwa, tendered the video footage to the panel, saying it contained what the camera could record about the incident.
However, it turned out that the audio recorder on the surveillance camera at the Lekki Toll Gate, was not activated.
Footage from the camera showed the Camera stopped working at about 8pm.
The LCC MD, Omomuwa said the audio was inactive because the camera was primarily used for vehicular traffic purposes and not security.
Omomuwa, who spoke while testifying before the panel, said: “I can confirm that inside here is the video footage that our surveillance camera was able to record for the 20th of October.”
