•First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun
The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has assured of continued support to the
inmates, less-privileged and the vulnerable members of the society.
Mrs. Abiodun gave the assurance at the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Ibara, Abeokuta, when she visited the facility in commemoration this year edition of International Day of Charity.
She was represented by the Wife of the State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Comfort Odunlami
The First Lady pointed out that the government and individuals have the responsibility of checking on inmates and catering for their needs as they form an integral part of the society.
She advised the inmates to adequately utilise the opportunity of the various vocations at the correctional facility and be determined to put them to use when they leave, to enhance their livelihood.
Also speaking on behalf of Deputy Comptroller of Correction, Mr. Damero Shuaib, the Chief Superintendent of Correction and Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Abdulhakeem Awesu, commended Mrs. Abiodun's demonstration of love for the inmates, urging government to further look into their plights.
The First Lady's team also visited Hansens Disease Centre, Iberekodo, Destitute shelter at Lafenwa and the less- privileged in Ilisan Remo as well as Ijebu- Ode among others.
