---Joy Nunieh Also Alleged: 'Akpabio Tried To Come On Me'
- The Daily Crucible
The feud between the immediate past Managing Director of the interventionist agency, Joy Nunieh, and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio over alleged massive corruption at the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) appeared messier on Monday with Nunieh disclosing that she slapped Akpabio for sexually harassing her.
The exchange of caustic words between the duo followed revelations at the ongoing investigative hearing by the Senate regarding the alleged reckless spending to the tune of N40 billion at the NDDC.
Nunieh, denied that the agency spent N22.6 billion under her stewardship, even as she accused Akpabio of asking her to do his bidding such as causing a northerner in the NDDC to be sacked but she declined.
She alleged further that Akpabio also threatened her with sack if she did not listen to his instruction.
Akpabio has, however, denied the allegations, declaring that Nunieh was removed from office because of insubordination and also because she lacked the requisite qualification to occupy the office, as she had no National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, discharge certificate.
But in what looked like a continuation of the verbal war between her and the ex - Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Joy Nunieh while speaking at a morning television interview programme on Arise TV, on Monday, alleged that Akpabio sexually harassed her in his Abuja guest house.
“Why did he not tell Nigerians that I slapped him in his guest house at Apo? I am the only woman that slapped Akpabio. He thought he could come up on me. He tried to harass me sexually.
“I slapped him. He tried to come on me. I am an Ogoni woman and nobody jokes with us. I showed Akpabio that Rivers women do not tolerate nonsense.
"Akpabio has touched my dignity, by talking about four men. He harassed me, I did not report because I could handle it," she said.
