Governor Dapo Abiodun on Monday visited communities in Abeokuta, the State capital, which were ravaged by flooding during the torrential rains that pounded the ancient city town on Saturday
The communities include: Isale Oja, in Kuto; Ijeun-Titun, and Ekundayo Street, Abeokuta.
The Governor expressed concern over the extent of havoc wrecked by the flood on houses and business structures.
Abiodun recalled that he had earlier sent five Commissioners to the scenes, who also assessed the extent of the damage caused by the floods, immediately he was informed about the development.
The Governor pleaded with leaders of the communities and markets to give the State Government a little time to gather details of affected persons and businesses for them to get the needed assistance.
According to him, the concerned Commissioners have been directed to commence palliative works in the affected places, pending when a permanent solution is put in place.
Governor Abiodun strongly advised residents to stop disposing waste on waterways, to allow Government's intervention go a long way and remain permanent.
