The Nigerian Breweries Plc has donated some relief materials to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Ogun State Council, to further cushion the effects of the COVID - 19 pandemic.
Delivering the items to Ogun Council of the NUJ at its Secretariat (Iwe Iroyin) in Okelewo, Abeokuta, on Tuesdaythe Corporate Affairs Manager (South West) of the Nigeria Breweries, Mr Tayo Adelaja, said the company commended the cordial relationship between the two organisations.
Tayo said that the relief packages is a way to further say 'thank you' to Journalists in the state, stressing that members of the pen profession are also part of the frontliners in the battle to flatten the curve of the Corona Virus spread in the state and nation.
He said: "On behalf of the management and staff of Nigeria Breweries Plc, I wish to thank you for your partnership, support and coverage of all our initiatives across the country.
"Your objective reportage of our activities has no doubt contributed in sustaining our brand reputation and image, which is critical to our continued business operations and success in Nigeria.
"As the world adjust to the harsh global realities brought about by covid-19, we realized that more than ever that this is the time for us to be there with our friends in the media who may have been negatively impacted by the virus."
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council, Mrs Omolola Adeyinka, who received the items on behalf of the members, thanked the company for remembering Journalists in the state at these trying times.
She further reiterates the commitment of members of the Union on objectives reportage of all activities of the company when called upon, adding that with the kind gestures, the relationship between the two organisations can only be stronger.
She therefore used the opportunity to call on other well meaning corporate organisations to assist Journalists in the state, especially with the fight against the pandemic still raging on.
