Deputy Senate President, Omo - Agege
The All Progressives Congress(APC) Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for Delta Central and who was elected the Deputy Senate President of the nation's 9th Senate, is the new face of South South at National Assembly and perhaps, the face of the next Governor of Oil rich Delta state.
Many at home - Delta State, and abroad, including Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who had since congratualted him, are happy with the emergence of Omo - Agege as 5th most powerful persons in Nigeria govetnment hierarchy.
Omo-Agege became Deputy President of the Senate after polling 68 votes to floor his opponent and former Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu, who garnered 37 votes.
Elated Omo - Agege at the inauguration of the 9th Senate said the development has opened a new chapter in the annals of Nigeria, adding that the 9th Senate would work in the interest of Nigerians.
He said:"We all know what transpired in the past but what happened today has turned the page on 8th senate and we have moved on to the 9th senate.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues irrespective of political platforms. We will work together as brothers and sisters to move the senate forward.
“I attribute my victory to God and God only, there is no explanation for it."
