Thousands of members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal
to Senator Buruji Kashamu surged in Ijebu - Igbo, the Headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, for the formal presentation Kashamu as the governorship candidate of the party in Ogun State.
Kashamu, a Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district at the National Assembly would be unveiled along with his running mate, a cerebral columnist, journalist and member of The Guardian Editorial Board, Dr. Reuben Abati, at the Omo - Ilu Foundation Hall, Ijebu - Igbo, by the party this Monday afternoon.
Although, the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, is reported to have presented the party's emblem to Hon. Ladi Adebutu, in Abuja, few days ago but Kashamu had remained resolute in his conviction that he is the authentic governorship candidate of PDP in the state, citing a valid court order given in his favour by a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta as reason to stay on course regarding the 2019 gubernatorial polls.
The Senator, however, pledged to make the security and welfare of the good people of Ogun State, among other socioeconomic packages, the focal point of his government, if elected into office in 2019.
Expectedly, candidates on the platform of PDP, such as Hon. Segun Adekoya, and others contesting various elective offices in 2019 also used the forum to drum up support for their respective political ambitions with banners of them raised sky high by supporters.
