Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that not withstanding what may be the individual's or collective interest in the 2019 gubernatorial  election in the state, it is God's will that matters most in the choice of who would become the Governor.

Obasanjo, therefore, advised that people should support whoever emerges governor of Ogun State come 2019.

The Ebora Owu who gave the advice at the 19th edition of  Ibogun- Olaogun Day celebration in Ibogun, Ifo Local Government Area of the state, cautioned politicians against engaging in violence, saying  there  is no justifiable reasons why there should not be a peaceful election in the state.

Obasanjo said: "I am particularly happy that the Governor spoke against violence. I want to tell you,  if you do not stop violence among your supporters, you will have yourself  to blame. There is no earthly reason why we should not have peaceful election in the state."

The Former President who demanded an open embrace and exchange of pleasantries between the gubernatorial candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Prince  Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and that of the Allied People's Movement (APM), Honourable Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, warned the duo that if they do not stop violence among their supporters, they would have themselves to blame.

Describing Governor Ibikunle Amosun as his brother who will remain dear to him till he dies, Obasanjo said in the present  political journey, their choices may not align.

"I have made my choice , it may not be in tandem with yours. Let my choice be and let yours be and let God decide and whoever gets there let all of us support him," Obasanjo  submitted.

Speaking earlier, the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun  warned politicians  against heating  up the polity, urging them to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.

According to him, in the final analysis, everybody is working for the progress of Ogun State.

Amosun also lauded Obasanjo for consistently identifying with his root, saying it is a lesson for all to always identify with their roots.

He pledged to attend the annual Ibogun Day regularly even after leaving the office.
