Succour came the way of the indigent pupils of Ebenezer Primary School, Ibido community, Ijebu, Ogun State, as 60 of them - 28 boys and 32 girls, who came to school on bare foot or in deplorable foot wears, smiled home with new ones.
A non - governmental organisation - The Less Privileged Children Encouragement Initiative (EI) which got information about their plights, rushed to the school with sandals last Thursday and distributed 60 pairs to the beneficiary school kids.
One of the pupils, a girl, was luckier as she also benefitted from EI Collaborative Scholarship Scheme which was funded by the IyeAyo Foundation in collaboration with EI.
The Daily Crucible gathered that over 500 indigent school kids in Ijebu and Remo areas delineated as Ogun East Senatorial district, have been provided with free sandals by EI in the last two years. Some of them were even clothed with new school uniforms, to replace tattered ones that hitherto, passed for school wears.
The initiator of EI, Dr. Rotimi Akinlesi, said helping the indigent school kids is a passion, expressing his determination to keep bringing succour to them.
