• Mafe
Search for replacement of the Majority leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyinka Mafe, has began in earnest shortly after the lawmaker from Sagamu dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to pitch tent with a fringe party, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) on Thursday morning.
The Daily Crucible gathered that the APC members which still dominate the 26 - member Ogun Assembly will meet soon to deliberate on who among them should succeed Mafe.
This follows calls by the APC members on Mafe to resign his position of Majority leader, minutes after he and three others - the Chief Whip, Idowu Olowofuja, Tunde Sanusi from Obafemi Owode state constituency and Ganiyu Oyedeji, notified their colleagues of the defection during plenary.
It was learnt that the house has asked Mafe to dignify himself and follow due process by resigning from his position.
An APC lawmaker and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kunle Oluomo, moved the motion for Mafe to follow due process and resign his position, it was learnt.
It was learnt further that the APC members in the house would meet soon, write the Speaker, Suraj, and then proceed to appoint a new Majority leader for the house if Mafe tarries unnecessarily in tendering his resignation notice in line with the house rule.
