Governor Ibikunle Amosun loyalists in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, in their hundreds have declared support for the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, Prince Adedapo Abiodun.
The loyalists, hitherto believed to be arch - supporters of Amosun in Ward 7, Abeokuta South, pledged to work and ensure the victory of Abiodun in 2019 governorship polls and other APC candidates contesting in the general elections, including the President Muhammafu Buhari - Yemi Odinbajo joint ticket.
The leader of the group and State House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Oyatayo Gabriel Ayomikun, who addressed reporters on Wednesday morning at the Secretariat of the Ogun State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Abeokuta, said he and his supporters have now chosen to abide by the decision of APC National Working Committee (NWC) and back the candidature of Abiodun.
Ayomikun appealed to Governor Amosun to allow the supremacy of the party to prevail and restrain his other supporters from moving to "unpopular political party," saying that would be an anti - party and unfair to a political platform that has brought immense benefits to him as two term governor.
He added that Amosun has visited President Buhari over five times in bids to upturn the decision of the NWC on Abiodun and to pave way for his anointed candidate, Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, to emerge, advising him to take cognisance of the fact that others were denied ticket for him to become Governor in 2011.
